Mine is often a whitish color the morning after using an enema. Are you using enemas?

Have you had any liver problems. My stools are pale compared to what they were prior to UC but mine got nearly white when I had some liver enzyme elevations from some of the drugs I was taking. Its just a thought.

Mucus may lighten the color of stool, but it will never turn it white.

You very likely have a liver blockage. A substance called urobilinogen gives stool its dark color. Urobilinogen is a product of bilirubin degradation. Bilirubin is a breakdown product of red blood cells, which is degraded in the liver. If stools are white or clay colored, you probably have a blockage.

Go to the doctor immediately!

That is good information for lots of us here to know, pb4. The meds can affect the liver and we may not even know unless we are aware of this warning sign. Now, let's hope doodledoo's doctor takes this seriously and doesn't just brush it off when he/she sees his/her patient actually knows something.

yes, it's a horribly scary thing to have to deal with all that goes in having IBD...hard to keep up with for sure...I sure hope doodledoo's doc takes good care of his complaint.

I second pb4's assessment of getting liver checked immediately. I actually read an article on white stool as an indicator of liver problems a couple years ago, randomnly.
