So I goofed...I went to refill my Colazal tonight and the automated voice at the CVS informed me I was out of refills. It then said I could chose for them to call my doctor but I could not get my prescription until 5:00 tomorrow. I have enough for my last dose tonight and two doses tomorrow. Here's my worry....I am the only patient on Colazal at my pharmacy so they don't always have it in stock. Can they transfer my prescription to another pharmacy that has it in stock in case they don't have any? Does that makes sense...sorry I have been watching Thomas the Train for the last 45 minutes and my brain isn't fully functioning. Thanks!

Tabitha,

Personally I really don't think it is that big of a deal to miss a couple doses of Aza or Colazal.... if it was Prednisone or something else then you might suffer from skipping a couple doses. Just don't make a habit of it.

You could call your GI and ask for advice....they might also have some sample at the GI's office.

I don't see why not as long as it's within the same chain of pharmacies. I had to do that once. I use CVS and my CVS was out of something I needed so they called another CVS for me and transferred my script.

I once needed something my regular pharmacy didn't have in stock. It was Friday, so of course they couldn't get it until Monday. They actually got on the phone for me and found it at another pharmacy (different company!) and made arrangements for me to get it there.

Usually we're good enough customers that the pharmacies want to make sure we're satisfied.

Howdy!

I have run into this problem before, since I have a home here in California and one in Montana. I have had to have my prescriptions transferred to a pharmacy in Montana and it wasn't even the same chain... I think it wouldn't be a problem to have your prescription filled someplace else. Just call in advance to make sure they have it in stock.

   Good luck!!

Ive also forgot to have an RX renewed. The pharmacist looked at my years of being on the same med and gave me a couple doses from my future rx to tide me over while he waited for the doc to call in the renewal. I am not sure if they are allowed to do this or if he was just being super super nice but it doesn't hurt to ask. Then when the renewal was called in and I picked up my next bottle it just had the pills he had already given me missing from it.

You know it all worked out. They were able to get in touch w/ my GI and had my script later that day.

My dad got snowed in once out of town w/out his bipolar meds and the pharmacist there looked up his meds and gave him some to get him through a couple of days. There are some nice ones out there!

I am glad it all worked out! I actually had a "sigh" of relief for you!  :)   I know it can be a helpless feeling when you are without your meds and afraid of the consequenses of not being able to get them on time
