I made the decision for Remicade, and it's worked out well for me. I've been to the infusion center for Remicade about
11 times now, and I see about
6 other people getting it each time. I've only seen 2 people have reactions, and both of those were treated with IV fluids to dilute the Remi and did fine. I know there are several people here who had reactions, but I haven't seen many at all - 2 out of about
I also know I still have the option of surgery, too. It's a hard one for me to take because it takes away all my other options. But if you're really afraid of medicine, it might be the choice for you.
Either way, I'd recommend getting off the Pred as soon as possible.
Moderate to severe left-sided UC (21 cm) diagnosed 2001.
Intolerant to Asacol and rectal mesalamine preparations.
On Prednisone then Entocort 2001-2006 with only short periods off.
Current meds are Colazal,
Azathioprine Remicade, Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri.
In remission since April, 2006. Remicade has been my wonder drug.
