as you guys know, I have been having a hard time emotionally lately, figuring out how to accept this disease. today I had a total melt down. it actually felt really good. I needed a good sob fest, but man I was a mess. i was at work, so my fiance wasn't there, but I told him about it later, on the phone, told him how tears were streaming down my face and I was freaking out and how angry and sad I am about my diagnosis. so, he listened, and we agreed we would meet at our house tonight for dinner. when I got home, he had a punching bag waiting for me in a little room in our house. he had bought me gloves and a full-size bag, and had set it up for me, and told me I could take out my frustration on it, and he showed me how to hit it. I was really touched, and I also thought it was kind-of funny, so I wanted to pass along the story in case it makes you smile, as I know I have certainly needed some cheering up lately.

Your fiance sounds neat!!!!! And that's definitely a big plus in your life, I would think. My internist (43 yr-old female with 2 teenaged kids) works out with a punching bag a couple times weekly. Glad I found out about that before starting an argument in HER office-- LOL! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Hey UCinNC, that is very cool! What a caring fiance you have -- tell him that his little act of kindness brought a smile to my face...and a giggle too! I love the idea...hmmm, just may get one myself. :-) And remember...we all need to have a sobfest every once in awhile.

What a sweet guy! He's obviously concerned and really hears how frustrating this is for you.

He's a keeper -- for sure!

He's sweet....I use mine almost everyday, sometimes twice a day depending on the day I'm having...great cardio work-out, super great for venting frustration...kills many birds with one stone having a punching bag.

Enjoy! :)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)
