I wanted to remind our newbies to this disease that we have a great resource section here on Healingwell.
These sights are extremely helpful and should answer many of your questions. Of course, it can also confuse you at the same time! Don't think that you're stupid if you can't understand your disease because UC can seem to be a bit daunting at first. Heck, I've had this 15 years and I'm STILL learning! But knowledge has to start somewhere yes?

Pan-colitis and GERD diagnosed May 2003
Asacol 12 per day, Azathioprine 75mg, Aciphex, Effexor XR, Forvia and a Probiotic
Osteopenia (hip and spine) from prednisone use. Started Azathioprine because I was steroid dependent.
