anniow - welcome to HealingWell! I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's struggles with UC. I personally don't have any experience with the pouches. I would suggest checking jpouch.org for additional information.
Pan-colitis and GERD diagnosed May 2003

Asacol 12 per day,  Azathioprine 75mg, Aciphex, Effexor XR, Forvia and a Probiotic
Osteopenia (hip and spine) from prednisone use.  Started Azathioprine because I was steroid dependent.

anniow - welcome. sorry to hear of your daughter's troubles. I agree that probably jpouch.org would have more people with this kind-of experience. but, if you don't mind me asking, if the pouched failed again, could she have an ostomy bag instead of permanent TPN?

just another thought - you might contact a surgeon at a major hospital (if oyu haven't already) to get stats on this sort of thing. Someplace like cleveland clinic or mayo clinic or mount sinai. I think those 3 do a lot of this kind of surgery and are real centers of excellence. they may be able to provide some good info for you and your daughter to assist in this decision. good luck.
