Hi folks,
Yesterday through me for a loop. I deposited into the toilet, it wasn't stool, but a handful of mucus yellowish in color with a little blood. It's like someone who has a sinus infection, that kind of snot looking. What's up with that and where did it come from?
I had the Rocephin shot and 2 weeks of Omnicef, this helped with my bloating and digestion. That was 4/15/07
Had Cipro and Predison for 10 & 5 days, 7/3/07
Colonoscopy & Endoscopy 7/27, Left sided colitis and near cecum (mild)
Had a shot of steriods for my ear inflammation 8/31
Stopped Colozal 10/1/07 was on it for 7 weeks, side effects
On Standard Process supplements, trying a new protocal from a
natural path as of 9/10/07
!

It could be IBS (have things been a bit stressful for you lately??) with possible fissure.

It could be something you've eaten consistently for the past week or so? Although it couldn't cause the bleeding.

It could be you're starting to flare....a good warning sign to start "something"..I'd suggest a rectal med (and since your body didn't agree with 5ASA, to try a steroid enema).

Discuss it with your naturopath and see what he/she suggests. Probiotics might help set some things straight....

You may eventually have to find meds that can help your UC....maybe Entocort pills (which release before the cecum)..will help that as well.

I hope this is fleeting...but if you're having any rectal discomfort, frequency or urgency...I'd lean more towards a flare.

Don't wait toooo long. You could see if your doc will do a stool sample to make sure it's nothing else.

Keep us posted.

When I am flaring I have bms that are just mucous. On occasion my IBS has caused mucous alone if I have eaten something really rich. I think Quincy has left some great advice for you.

They are a topical form of steroid that are released in the ileum and then into the colon....

One will have some side effects because it can be absorbed into the bloodstream somewhat, but a low percentage compared to taking prednisone (systemic steroids).

Do the research.
