The US doesn't have steroid based rectal foam??? Like cortifoam? That's odd.

i thought Old Hat said there was a mesalamine foam-she already uses the proctofoam, but had
trouble with the canasa suppositiories. the foam seems easier to hold so an mesalamine/canasa
foam might help.

sara is there a foam that is mesalamine

The U.S. has Cortifoam, but not 5-ASA foam. Knitty_Cat in Australia was able to get a prescription there for the 5-ASA foam last yr, & wrote some posts to HW saying that she finds it very helpful. It is also available in Europe & the UK. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Yep, we have a mesalamine foam here in Australia. PLEASE - when it does come to the US, your daughter will certainly be able to use it and go about her day. My Dr says it's best to lay down for 1/2 hour afterwards but I found I was able to apply it and head off in the morning (when I was flaring and used it as an extra thing in the morning with a regular enema at night). For maintenance, I apply it at night twice a week so it has a chance to move around in my colon.

Old Hat - how is your letter writing campaign with the Shire Pharmaceutical company going?
Left Sided UC
Maintenance Meds: Salofalk tablets (Asacol) 2 tablets 4 times daily (4gm total) plus 2 Salofalk foam enemas per week.
Flare Meds: Salofalk enemas and/or Colifoam
Oat bran 60grams daily, Metamuscil and multivitamins
