I got woken up this morning with terrible gut cramps so I ran to the bathroom with D and then again 30 minutes later.  I'm fine now but I have that horrible icky "liquid goo" feeling in my gut with left sided pain.  But why today of all days! I have a huge day planned today....I have to go to a going away party for a friends son, then I am going out to dinner with some friends and then out dancing for mine and a friends birthday.  Why does Uc have to come out at the most inopportune times????  mad   *Grumble, grumble!*

Have any of you had this where you had plans for weeks in advance only for your Uc to hinder them or damper your excitement???

Oh Sherry I'm sorry. My UC likes to rear its ugly head at the worst times as well. I have missed so much. I can usually work around most things but some things jsut don't work with UC. I missed a great day on a boat with my in laws (who i love) becuase no bathroom on a boat!!! even when you can work around bathroom locations ect it does damper the fun.

I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully this is just a small blip and you will be feeling better before dinner.

Naughty UC! Naughty, naughty, naughty! Now go back to remission!

Sigh... I've had that happen TOO many times! I would say this is the time for some Immodium or some of those lovely pain pills that block a person up for a day.

Feel better soon!

Is there any chance that you worried that your symptoms would flare on such a busy day?
I have plans this weekend too to go out of town. I used to worry that I'd get sick when I had plans and I always did. Now I just assume everything will be fine, and it usually is :)
Oddly enough, it's the days when I don't have plans or a work schedule to stick to that my gut goes south on me! I can't figure that one out, cause it's usually a day where I'm just gonna stick around the house and relax and I end up in the bathroom 2 or 3 times more than usual!
It's too late for this advice to help for today, but in the future try not to think of how your UC will affect birthday plans etc. and just assume things will be fine. (and hopefully they will! :))
Hope you feel better Sherry!

Actually I TRIED not to think about today. I should've knew something was brewing because last night I had some intense gas pains but contributed it to something I ate. I've been doing Colocort every other night and been doing fairly well - until this morning! Hopefully, it IS just a fluke thing and maybe it was just what I had for dinner last night (pork chops and mashed potatoes). I had some real oatmeal this morning and it seemed to settle my gut a bit. Luckily that icky liquid goo feeling is gone.

I gave up trying to figure out this Uc thing a long time ago - though it would be nice if it had some rhyme or reason!

Sorry to hear that your day is messed up with UC. My day also got messed up. As you might know, I am an autograph collector and I was supposed to go get one of the Old time Pittsburgh Steelers autograph today. He is at our local mall and of course i woke up today with a little bit of blood on the TP and that weird feeling in the stomach. Needless to say, I called my friend and told him that I could not make it today and he is going to go get my autograh for me.
I hope your symptoms doesn't interfere with your plans. Take care and have fun

Sherry...how awful you're feeling so crappy. Can you take an enema..or even half of one? Maybe even low dosage of imodium to help lessen some of the symptoms for today?

I do hope as the day goes on, you do feel better to enjoy your evening.

Let us know how it went.

The whole evening was a disaster! Nothing seemed to go right anyway so maybe it was the gods way of telling me I should've stayed home!? First, the wind chill here was -20 degrees - boy was that a bitter cold! I though my face would crack and fall off just going from a building to the car! 2nd, my friend that was having the birthday with me, she and her hubby had to leave because her 14 year old girl was umm well she got drunk and threw up all over their house. 3rd, the bar we went to go dancing was super cool! But there were hardly anyone there because of the bitter cold. There was also supposed to be a band playing that night but they didn't even make it. So even though this place was awesome and huge! It was sort of dead. 4th, I was in major pain all night long. I could hardly eat my dinner because I felt super nauseas and my gut kept constantly sending me sharp shooting pains. I tried to stick it out as long as I could and I managed to make it to midnight. By the time we left, I couldn't keep my eyes open and I had a headache from hades.

*Sigh* - I'm still in a little bit of pain today but I did an enema last night which seem to settle things a bit in there. And today I have NO intention of leaving the house! I want to stay warm today because by the time I went to bed last night, I was frozen to the bone!

I didn't want to be the wet blanket ya know? There were 8 of us going and the main reason we went was because of mine and my friends bday. I was looking forward to this night for about a month now - but I guess there is always next time huh? Maybe the next time we go out, I will be feeling better - I hope!

I'm still having D and left side pain  sad   I think I might have to call my GI - but not sure if they're open today because of Martin Luther King Jr.s bday (which is a holiday in the states - not sure if it's like that elsewhere).  I've been up for an hour and already went twice.  I am supposed to go out to dinner tonight for my friends daughters bday but I think I'm going to have to pass  mad    Yeah, January is a busy month for us!

I know exactly what you are going through. I am currently in what they call "remission". Yeah, right. I don't seem to have the bleeding, but all the other symptoms are there from my UC.

My wife and I are very active people, but I live in the life of fear and do not know how to get out of it. So, I know what you mean about having it flare up at the most terrible times.

I have been living in fear from so long now, that I do not remember what if feels like to have a normal day. Some days I actually feel like I am loosing my sanity...literally.

I could go on and on here in this thread, but I guess I could save it for another one. I just wanted to let you know that I know how you are feeling. I, for one hope this chat room will help me live again. I feel so alone right now.

Thank you SirJames and welcome to Healingwell btw! :) I don't live in fear with my Uc - I just get frustrated and angry now.

Please know that you are not alone now - you are amongst friends who can truly relate to you. You should create a post and introduce yourself :)
