this is worse than my first run with a flare up last summer, my urgency to go to the bathroom is horrible, i have like a 6 second timne period from when i have to go and im going.

So im here to see what are some safe foods to eat, i get real bad from like oranger juice, coconut and milk. What kind of food settle your stomach and what kind of drinks?

I eat rice and white chicken meat pretty often. I kind of stick to the recommendations in "Eating right for a bad gut" It's a pretty reasonable "diet" to follow and makes a lot of sense. It didn't put me into remission but did seem to help with symptoms a bit.

Definitely stay away from fatty and spicy foods. You've already found that dairy and highly acid foods (orange juice, tomatoes, etc.) bother you. Coffee can be bad because it's also highly acid. Carbonated drinks may give you increased gas. Make sure your fruits and vegetable are really well-cooked to the point where you can mash them with a fork. When I'm flaring I have to avoid high-fiber foods such as a lot of cereals and "gassy" foods like beans, cabbage and related veggies.

Hope you're feeling better soon, mook.

Hi,

I had problems with red foods and drinks... don't ask me why...citris, milks, and spicy foods. After being in remission for so long nothing really bothers me anymore except spicy foods, but that's because I don't really care for it. In the hospital I always had gatorade or ginger ale. Don't eat popcorn if your GI hasn't told you already because the kernals can scrap along your colon and add to the inflammation. good luck

I'd say for a few days cut way back to the BRAT diet: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast, and decaf Tea. You can even mash up the bananas on the toast--better than eating it dry. Once things calm down a little bit, add in other foods slowly. Lean meats and seafood are really good (not red meat--too fibrous). Try to AVOID fatty/fried foods, nuts, seeds, popcorn, fresh fruits and veggies (only eat cooked or canned ones), and definitely no dairy!

And if you haven't called your doc yet, you should definitely let them know. They may want to change up the meds or add in something else.

Good luck!
