Hey guys, another thread by me! You know, a few weeks ago before I even knew I had anything I did notice that after straining to open up a jar of sauce the blood vessel's on my palm had burst (just a line of them in the shape of the top).

Well I was just lifting some weights and notices after lifting (dumbells) that again there are bursted blood vessel's in each of my palms. Not alot. But I don't think I've ever noticed this before. Could this be due to colitis?

On the only bright note of this past week, I used a hydrocortizone suppository last night before bed and this morning I did not have ANY water come out before my first BM. Since Wednesday I've had nothing but water come out every morning, then 10 minutes late my normal hard stools'. I posted that my GI's assistant said that was prally from the prep work for the colonoscopy. And I had very little blood from my hemroid this morning. It's been bleeding really bad since the colonoscopy. The sense of urgency I had wasn't as bad either. Again I know how lucky I'am because I only get that urgency JUST before the stool comes out. Because those last few inches are the only inflammed piece. I cannot imagine having my entire colon inflammed. I have no clue what I'd do. Sorry to get off topic of my own thread! Just thought I'd update for anyone listening to me complain and whine.

Hey, complain and whine all you want! That's what we are here for :) I've never had blood vessels burst on me either though I do have an increase of angiomas which are different then what you are describing.

Oh and I never got the chance yet, but welcome to Healingwell! :) Just a suggestion, you might want to put what you are on in your signature including supplements if any. That is so we can see what you are using which can offer any clues to your dilemas. If you need help with that, just let me know.

I don't remember what meds you're on, but when I was taking Prednisone or Entocort, my arms would bleed easily between the layers of the skin. If I happened to lean on something too long, or just barely hit my forearm on anything, I'd get a bright red area that looked almost like a blood blister. I had so many of them that one of the social workers once started talking to me about domestic violence - she thought I'd been beaten.

When I stopped the steroids, it stopped happening.

I bruise easily....always have, and I do get broken vessels in my fingers from lifting something heavy or if I pinch it (but never remember when).

My blood clotting is normal, but by skin is very fair and thin (another inherited ucky characteristic). Could be meds, could be just the way I am, could be both..sigh.

But interesting....in Sept, when I fell down the basement stairs and landed fully on my shoulder (immediate dislocation and relocation)...that area never bruised one bit.

It could be that you're now noticing things you didn't before?

I'm happy to hear things have improved a bit since using the supps. Do use them nightly for at least a few weeks, then start tapering every second night for at least 2 weeks, then to every third night...etc.  The whole point of the tapering is to maintenance.

Prednisone definitely makes you prone to bleeding. So be careful!

I'm only taking Asacol right now. 3 pills in the morning and 3 at night. However I did use Hydrocortizone suppositories that I had leftover from my internal hemroid bleed festival a few months ago. And after using them for the past 2 nights I feel A BIT better. This Asacol doesn't appear to be doing anything.

The bursted blood vessels thing...I'm still not sure. I was curling 30 pound dumbells and the grips are just metal basically. And opening up a sauce jar that was MAJORLY stuck on ...yea I coulda just squezzed so hard that they bursted.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Tough to respond with work.
