Cyclosporine started to work for me in about 4 days and I was out of the hospital in about 10 days the first time, 12 days the 2nd time. I've been on Cyclosporine twice.(currently on it now).
My advice....make sure that your GI and hospital specialize in treating patients with Cyclosporine; it is not a common medication for UC and you need to be properly monitored.
2nd.... have them change the IV line every couple of days...Cyclosporine is really tough on the veins....each time I was in the hospital on IV Cyclosporine my veins were throbbing in pain because I keep the iv in the same arm for too long. So alternate it every 2 days or so.
I like Cyclosporine, I had fewer side-effects from it than I had from Prednisone and it worked a lot better for me too.
