It has been about a year since I was diagnosed with UC and I believe I have been doing great since going into remission in April 07'.  The real only wierd thing that has happened and this has happened three times since April is all of a sudden I have to "Go"  with urgency and I run to the Bathroom and explode - it appears to be almost pure blood.  It is like pure diarrhea that is really red but maybe thinner than real blood - like it is diluted with a little water.  And a few chunks will come out that I feel like they are blood clots- although probably only my imagination on that.  (Sorry I know this disgusting so far).  This will continue for about 3-4 times in about an hour or so.  After that it is gone and the next day I have gone back to being normal for me with no blood at all - which is two formed bm's a day?  The first time this happened I figured it was a scab from an ulcer or something and it bled for awhile because of it.  I had a cherry smoothie with a lot of cherry skins in it, so I thought it was a cherry skin undigested that scraped the inside of my colon tearing off a scab.  The second time was after going snowmobiling and I thought the extreme roughness of riding shook my intestines so bad an ulcer started bleeding. Last week it happened yet again but for the life of me I can't figure out why - either way I'm completely fine after it happens?  Does this happen to anybody else?  Could it be something else besides UC?  I'm going to the GI in a little over a month and I do plan on asking then but wanting firsthand knowledge here.  All input is greatly appreciated!!

Can't say that its happened to me in quite such a disturbing manner.

I sometimes get an urgent movement that come out all liquid and red, but I've always put that down to hemaroids :-/

I have had very bloody D and have never had a hemmaroid. I think you should avoid eating skins on any fruits or vegetables. It's probably too rough on your system. I don't think the ulcers can scab. From what I understand, they get irritated and then open and release blood. My guess is that each time, it was caused by something you ate. You are lucky you don't flare up after all that. Tell your doctor, please and tell us what he says.

I don't think inside the colon (or anywhere inside for that matter) can really "scab" reason being is air is needed to produce a scab, like on the skin...when ulcers are healing inside your body they are more prone to shrink up and heal rather than "scab".

Maybe what you were actually experiancing was the cherries comming out undigested.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

For sure there would be no scabbing...but there also wouldn't be only one ulcer since the the areas affectd with UC is like one huge inflamed or raw area...depending on how much inflammation you have.

It's possible it's what's left of the cherry smoothie..
It's possible that the jarring in your body from the snowmobiling caused some bleeding if you're inflamed to the point of extreme fragility.

I would say you're in a fairly iffy place regarding flaring. or, you might have internal hemorrhoids or a fissure...

Are you still on your meds? Is your signature up to date?
