Does anyone know if you take a lot of pills per day if it's hard or harder on your system? Right now I'm only taking Asacol for my IBD but I take lots of other tablets throughout the day, everyday. I use most of these supplements for bodybuilding purposes.
Even though what I take is natural stuff, I'm still concerned. They don't seem to bother me in a bad way but I'm concerned on what might be going on inside me.

What are your thoughts?

mainly amino acids but I take a vita pack that contains 12 pills in it alone.

I'd say I choke down about 20-30 pills a day.

icanrace,

I'm currently taking 39 pills a day no supplements and if I had my way I wouldn't take any of them because I hate the thought of filling myself up with chemicals.

May I suggest that rather than buy Amino Acids, dry out some earth worms, after squeezing the insides out you can lay them on a hot stone, which will dry them out quicker, then once dried eat them, the earth worm is full of pure Amino acids, so much cheaper than the packs you are buying and you will know exactly what you're taking.

Take care.

Whilst out in the field I have eaten some curious things, but never the omelette, I tend to eat unusual food only when it was impossible to light a fire so had to eat cold.

Yes, some pills are harder on your system then others. I would review with you GI or your pharmicist your pill regime and find out if any of them may be hard on your colon.

My GI, for example, won't put me on iron suppliments because they are harder on the colon.

We don't want to take anything that upsets our systems more than normal.

February 04: Rushed to hospital with severe blood haemorrhage. Diagnosed with indeterminate UC in 2/3 of my bowel. Treated with heavy doses of Pred; started Salofalk tabs and sups.

April 06: First major flare – more haemorrhaging. Colonoscopy once against confirmed indeterminate UC.

May 06: Started 40 mg Pred. Weaned down to 10mg by July 8, held at 10mg until December 20, tapering 1mg every 2 weeks, 5mg a day as of February 14. All this plus 10 Salofalk tabs daily.

Jan through May 2007: Suffering from severe headaches and vomiting likely caused by prednisone.

Feb 26 07: Started Imuran with continued success.

May 12 07: Final dose of prednisone after 50 weeks!
