"fly with the wind"

Let those farts rip!

j/k

I understand! It's hard to plan a trip - even a field trip for work w/o wondering if there'll be a bathroom close by. I'm very thankful that UC is behaving right now. I wish GERD and gastritis would comply as well...
Pan-colitis and GERD diagnosed May 2003

Asacol 12 per day,  Azathioprine 75mg, Aciphex, Effexor XR, Forvia and a Probiotic
Osteopenia (hip and spine) from prednisone use.  Started Azathioprine because I was steroid dependent.

Ha! Trying having it for 15 years! :) But I TOTALLY understand. I hate Uc, always have and always will until I have that puppy yanked that is (which I'm hoping will be in the near future). I have missed so many of my kids concerts or events, missed gatherings or going out, had to plan my vacations around my flares - it totally stinks. So vent away all you want because I can guarantee that 100% of us will say the same thing!

I find myself still in awe of how much different life is, and how weary I am of it. And I'm in awe that there is a world of people who have no idea about how this life is. But I am glad they don't - I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

I hate it, too. I hate having to take medication every day, and knowing I'll probably have to for the rest of my life. I hate that people often get it when they're young. I hate that there is no known cause, or known cure. That being said, I'm glad I don't have it as bad as many, and I do feel it has made me appreciate the things that really matter in life a little more, and to not get so upset over the little things quite as often as I used to.

I have been a UC patient going on 22 years now. Mostly in remission except for an occasional flare. Flares have changed for me. No more diarrhea with my flares. But uncomfortable pressure and stinging in my lower left side accompanied by gas. And bad bouts of gas at times. And usually at night and early in the morning upon rising. Sure wish that would go away and stay away. Noticing certain foods now cause me many problems and I am trying a process of elimination right now starting with regular milk. I have changed to a soy vanilla lactose free milk, and while things are not completely gone it has improved. Wondering if I don't have IBS, the reason for all these different symptoms. Drives me crazy when I feel like I need to go to the bathroom and then am in there 3 or 4 times in an hour doing little bits the first 3 times and then I'll be back in there a fourth time doing what I feel I should have been able to do during one of the first 3 trips. And of course I am using probiotics and digestive enzymes and was using metamucil daily and those things cause the worse of the gas and severe bloating with it. Can't deal with that. My system is still trying to clear all the bloating out. Some times I feel like a inflated balloon. I hope gas symptoms like mine are not a sign of cancer. And I don't like the low backache I wake up with every morning right in the middle. Throbbing ache. I worry constantly about colon cancer even though only about a 2 1/2 inch section of my sigmoid colon is even affected. And it under control. But then I worry about every bad bout of gas I have and every bowel movement I have that to me is not normal. I have no anxiety medicine of any kind left which sucks. It relaxes me and helps with a change of my thoughts.

Diagnosed with left sided UC in sigmoid colon and rectum 1986.
Put on Azulfidine 2 X3 a day and Rowasa enemas 60mg.
Had a rectal flare with bleeding in 1991.
Have been pretty much in remission overall other than a few flares over the past 21 years.
Medicine changed to Asacol 400mg 2 pills X3 times a day.
Was taken off of all meds in 2004 after being symptom free for two years.
Diagnosed with acid reflux 2005. Put on Protonix 40mg.
Had a flare of proctitis in January 2007. Have been using Canasa 1000mg suppositories nightly since January 2007. Had a proctalgia reflux episode in June 2007. Was taking probiotics nightly.
Was put back on Asacol 400mg 2 pills 2X a day in July 2007 as a maintenance against colon cancer.
Xanax when needed.

I am starting to have some serious issues dealing with my UC. I have had it almost 14 years now. I am 33 and have pancolitis. I have been in a bad flare since I had some serious surgery to remove a pituitary tumor back in June. My flare is getting worse. I was on 40mg pred which worked excellent for about 2 weeks until I tapered to 10mg..... Now my flare is back w/ avengance. Today has been rough - a lot of painful "D", painful cramps, and burning butt from going so many times! It is making me exhausted.

Love this crap mad
33 yr old male. UC for 13 years. 40mg pred, 12mg Asacol, Fish oil pills, Garden of Life probiotics. Recent Endonasal brain surgery to remove non-cancerous hormone producing tumor on pituitary gland.

I have only recently been diagnosed but have been suffering the symptoms for 2 years. In October I took a 2 week trip to the UK and joke with my friends that while they took a tour of the UK, I took a tour of the UK bathrooms. I'm glad that Britain and Wales are so bathroom friendly. There are public toilets in the most unusual places. I try to keep my attitude positive but some days it's super hard and everyone needs to vent.
I hate UC too.
But thank you to everyone on this site for all of the great posts of encouragement and remedy.
