Hi...I wouldn't think it would much past the sigmoid...but up to and into the transverse...I would say for sure not...unless you were using maybe two enemas and doing a maneuver that would help get it there.
I can't see that the asacol wouldn't help with a higher dosage but twice a day...say 5 x 2.
There are other 5ASA meds to still try. Tapering the pred will have you with some symptoms I think.
How long have you been on the pred?
There is one tapering method that another member suggested a while ago...eg...25, 20, 25, 20, 25, 20, 20, 20......20, 15, 20, 15, 20, 15, 15, 15,...etc. I'm not sure of the days of each, but it would be worth to find out from your doc and see if that could work to get you off the pred.

I wish I could remember the member who does the butt lift/body roll claiming it can get the enema med through the colon...hope he/she will read this and comment.

My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS" worth it !!!
