No, usually they're packed full of MSG's which can be killer for IBD...I eat EDO of Japan, no preservatives or MSG's of any kind.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

I can't eat any Chinese food at restaurants, I have tried it several times at different places and I get violently ill every time. I make chicken
stir-fry at home with sauce and I haven't had any problems with that.

We order from a Sechewan/Thai Chinese restaurant (River Mandarin) every two weeks. No MSG added ever...although there might be some in some preparations they use.

It's spicy and awesome!!

I don't normally eat "regular" Chinese....but maybe twice a year we eat at one of the Chinese outlets in one of the mall food courts....I love sesame honey chicken and it's not offered at our regular place.

I do, but I avoid egg rolls and spring rolls because they're full of bok choy (cabbage), which I can't eat. I just pick from the things I can eat.

ooooo, pad thai....totally yummm. We have a place in our city called Pad Thai...awesome!

Severin...interesting you bring that up regarding the time food sits in mall food courts...fortunately, the two places I eat at are always sold out (and new stuff is always being brought out) and the other is fresh cooked (Koyo). I agree some places, depending on the time of day..I'd never consder it. Never had a problem with food poisoning, thankfully.

Since UC I don't dare to eat Szechuan-style, or dishes with ginger or bamboo shoots. That still leaves dozens of choices, especially noodle & dumpling selections-- and who can fault plain boiled rice? / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I love good Chinese restaurants. I don't eat at the mall ones, chains or buffets because IMO they just don't taste very good.

We have an AMAZING Chinese buffet in town... Typically I don't like buffets of any kind, and have never been to a chinese one that I enjoyed, but the food at this one is always hot and fresh and great. My favorite is the sesame chicken and brown rice, and they have these great potatoes that I get a heaping pile of every time, haha. But I usually do spend most of the night afterwards in the bathroom, so I typically only eat there once a month maybe.

The thing I like best about the buffets though is you can try new things without worrying about wasting your money! If I have to buy a meal, I will only get things I know I will like because if I buy something and hate it then I'm stuck! But with a buffet you can get a bit of everything :)
