last week i was doing VERY well and wanted to just get off the meds (sulfasalzine) and even now my bm's are good, above average but tonight i had alot of gas and only blood and it was pinkish colored, very very light red. (wondering what anyone thinks)

Sounds like it to me. If you have rectal meds, start them.

You'll know soon enough, however, if it is indeed a flare. Just don't wait to the point of it being most obvious.

*Heather*Status: mini flare Dec 28... tapered to every second night
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~5ASA: Asacol (6 daily) + Salofalk enemas (increase for flares tapered to maintenance)
~Bentylol (dicyclomine) 20mg as needed
~vitamins/minerals/supplements 
~Probiotic 3(Natural Factors Protec) bedtime + 1 (Primadophilus Reuteri) occasionally
~multi-digestive enzymes as needed ....bromelain 1 - 2x daily
~Ranitidine,Pariet (reflux) Effexor XR 75mg;  Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma)
~URSO for PSC (or PBC) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS"  worth it !!!

I'd say blood = flare for sure. If you have doubts you could ask your Dr for a blood test to check your inflammation markers and confirm it, but I'd be pretty confident that you are flaring.
Left Sided UC
Maintenance Meds: Salofalk tablets (Asacol) 2 tablets 4 times daily (4gm total) plus 2 Salofalk foam enemas per week.
Flare Meds: Salofalk enemas and/or Colifoam
Oat bran 60grams daily, Metamuscil and multivitamins

UC can be so unpredictable because it sounds like a flare to me too. One day all is great and the next day you are bleeding.......

Medications:  Predisone - 5mg ,asacol - 12 tablets per day
Supplements:  multi-vit, calcium, folic acid
My wish:  get off prednsione....been on straight since 8/2006
