Hi,  Took your advice and asked my doctor today about increasing my Asacol from 6 to 9 pills a day.  He said since I respond so well to my Entocort (I take 3 of them in the morning during a flare) he wants me to take the Entocort for 10 days every month.  He didn't want to increase the Asacol at the same time because then he wouldn't know which one is working best.  I've been having flares about every 6 weeks, sometimes more often.   The Canasa I have, I'll use during flares.  After reading most of these posts it looks like I should be on some good vitamins too.  Anyone have good luck on Entocort?  Thanks for all the good information and for just being there.

I was on Entocort for several years, and it did ease my symptoms somewhat. Unfortunately, I was never able to taper off of it, every time I dropped the dosage below two, I flared terribly.

Hope you have good results from this regimen.

I just got off entocort, I was on it for 3 months so I had to taper slowly.

Does anyone else feel decreased appetite with it?
I also lost about 8-10 pounds while on it.

Its strange because Pred has the opposite effect.
Diagnosed in spring 2005 at age 28
Currently on 12 asacol pills a day + Entocort

I had essentially the same side effects as with Pred. Hungry, craving salt, etc.

I started Entocort today. My GI says it's fine for maintenance since 99% of the medication is metabolized by the liver, so virtually none of it goes into the bloodstream. If it works out I plan to stay on it indefinitely.

Having UC has made me lose a few pounds. Maybe taking more of the Entocort I'll have some cravings. I can afford to gain a few pounds. Oh to be able to eat chocolate.

Craving salt, eh?? I started entocort December '06. At the time I was pregnant, so I thought the salt craving was just from that. My baby is one year old now and I'm still on entocort---and I still crave salt. I thought I was just weird.
Diagnosed with UC in August 2005.
