Hello!! I"M here! I'm here! yay!!
Anyways, I"m sorry I didn't see the post right away, and thanks princessC for letting me know. weird I didn't see it last night when I was on..oh well..anyways, HI Beth.
Yes, the prednisone did raise my blood sugars..but my sugars on the pred were in the 200-300 range!! This freaked me out, because I have been diabetic since about 2004, but my sugars have always been well controlled. Very rarely ever even hit the 200 mark. Then it was while in the hospital on IV steroids that I learned just how high my sugars went. I was then put on insulin, where before I was always on oral diabetic meds. I have been off pred now since december, and my sugars have decreased alot. I was having major lows, and have been slowly decreasing the insulin. I'm hoping to go back to oral meds again soon. Juice does raise the blood sugars, so I had to be sure to take in juice in moderation. Be careful of carbs too, they raise blood sugar as well. its possible if you weren't diabetic before taking the steroids, you could be ok after getting off the steroids. But definately monitor your blood sugars, and watch the diet. good luck!
