Great News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

If you have ever seen Dr Oz on Oprah whatever the topic, it always seems to get around to talking about poo. People out there are starting to understand just how important normal BMs are and how important they are.

Hopefully this is the start of a nice long "normal functioning" colon for you.

Wahoo, great news! Life is good with only one, ha ha.

Dx:  UC Proctitis 2006

Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.

Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).

Added: tumeric and probiotics.

How can one determine what is normal? Some days I go once, and other days I may go 4 times. But they are always normal in appearance, no diarrhea, no bleeding. I have read that 3 or 4 times a day for some people is not abnormal.

What I cannot tolerate is this on and off problems with what feels like a catch in my side. I can always feel what appears to be gas when this occurs. This occurred 4 times last year and this is February and this has been going on for a little over a month now.

It takes me several months to get over this. It is mainly in the lower left side of my colon that I feel this. Some days it is practically nonexistent, and other days it is present for a good while. My gastro doctor said it is not colon related.

I notice stinging sensations also all around that area and my upper abdomen also. Drives me crazy. I wish this would go away.
Diagnosed with left sided UC in sigmoid colon and rectum 1986.
Put on Azulfidine 2 X 3 a day and Rowasa enemas 60mg.
Have been pretty much in remission overall other than a few flares over the past 21 years.
Medicine changed to Asacol 400mg 2 pills X3 times a day. Taken off all meds in 2004.
Diagnosed with acid reflux 2005. Put on Protonix 40mg.
Have been using Canasa 1000mg suppositories nightly since January 2007.
Was put back on Asacol 400mg 2 pills 2X a day in July 2007 maintenance.
