Hey Beth -- keep as positive an attitude as possible to keep the hum drums at bay. They are gonna happen because of the darn prednisone.
I have one of the easiest going even tempered husbands in the world and I have said before this drug turned him into a magilla gorilla sometimes. He would apologize almost immediately as he just somehow couldn't help himself.
I am so sensitive that it made me nuts too!!! Not to mention quite ticked off also as I was doing hell and all and feeling like "I don't deserve to be treated this way". I am just so grateful that he is not a cranky nasty kind of guy to begin with because I probably would have strangled him!
He is now off the prednisone and much much better. His patience level seems to have been impacted somewhat though. Kind of hard not to have it interfere with your personality when you go through all the ups and downs associated with UC and trying to attain remission.
When you're with someone for almost 40 years you know when to keep quiet and not push their buttons. Fortunately, overall we have found a way to make this work so that it doesn't hurt our relationship which was so perfect up until 2 years ago. So we are very lucky that this has only been what I would call a real bump in the road for being together for 40 years. We are blessed for sure.
To those of you struggling, this forum is a lifesaver, a wealth of information and a great support network to help cope with this. I am sure I would not be as centered handling all of this on his behalf without all the advice and assistance I have gotten from everyone.
