Hello all

I have my colonoscopy scheduled for tomorrow (part of the Abatacept drug trial I am about to go on), so I am currently starving myself!  OMG, I am sooo hungry it's unreal.

My last scope was 5 years ago, and I must admit the bowel prep has really improved since then.  Last time I took it, I was vomitting from the putrid taste. But now, it tastes lovely - like orange squash, lol.

But, oh, how my bum hurts now. Its real sore from the constant BMs.  Just taken the 2nd sachet so, I guess it will be at least another 4 hours of D :-(

Dreaming of my next meal....

Let us know how it goes! Glad to hear the prep is a little better. My last scope was 3 years ago and I couldn't keep the prep down either. Awful!

Hi everyone,

Well, it's over.  The scope itself wasnt too bad. My favourite GI did it, and he is great!

16 biopsies were taken, which seems quite a lot.  Actually, it was a bit worse than I expected, as my symptoms right now are not too bad.  Severe UC up to the splenic flexure and patchy inflammation in the right colon.   I think 4 pseudo polyps, one of which is more than 1.5 cm and so it was biopsied.  I tried real hard to stay awake and watched most of it on the screen.  Although I didnt feel the biopsies, after each one was taken, I could see a gush of blood come out after the bowel was pinched, ugh.

I got home and headed out with a friend to a restaurant as I was sooo hungry.  And OMG, what a nightmare.  I was half way through my meal and I had a seizure! I woke up on the restaurant floor with everyone crowding around me. I sat up and then I had another one.  My friend knows I have them and so he knew not to bother calling the ambulance. It was awful.  I don't have them that often, but I think it was the lack of food that sparked these ones.  Thank god I dont have scopes too often!

I've had far less BMs than usual in the 2 days since the colonoscopy, which is weird.

Anyway, I have been entered onto the Abatacept trial and I will have my first infusions on Tuesday. I will write back here after I have had them.

So sorry to hear about your seizures. They are such an awful thing,my daughter has anything up to 50- 100 small seizures daily and focal seizures too.It could be due to the colonoscopy though. My daughter gets them worse when she has viral bugs or there is inflammation in her body.
Hope you get to feeling better soon. What medication are you on for the seizures?

I've never been awake for my cscopes but now I'm going to be thinking about those bloody biopsies on my next one *shudders*! :) I'm glad that scope went well but sorry about the seizures. I had a friend once (when I was a kid) who had occasional seizures and I'm not quite sure who it's harder on - the person seizing or the person watching a friend seize! Are you going to follow up with your GI about the scope?

Actually, I'm not any medication for the seizures. I only have them around once a year or so, and therefore I didnt want to add to my already overloaded medicene regimen!

Im seeing my GI in 6 weeks for a follow-up appt.  But, there isn't a whole lot of point. He is pretty tired of me now, as I keep refusing surgery. I have gone down every medical option and am steroid dependent.  I am more concerned with going to the research centre and hoping abatacept works...
