I have been taking entocort enemas for three or four months and I am finding that I am very easily distracted and agitated. I generally don't want to do anything especially when it comes to tasks at work. I often envision ways to get out of the tasks and none of them are particularly healthy. Luckily my UC is not very active right now thanks to the entocort. This could be just my job, which I have only been at for 8 months, but it seems that it is greatly amplified right now.

Could it be the entocort?

Thanks for the great site!

Hi..yes, it could be the entocort, I can't remember what the % is, but although Entocort enemas (and pills) are "topical", some does get absorbed into the blood stream and you'll get systematic symptoms, but milder than if on systemic steroids.

Are you on the enemas nightly? or have you tapered to maintenance?

Yeah, I am still taking one nightly. I started to taper, but I started getting more diarrhea. I went to one every other night, but that may be too quick. I am going to try skipping every third night for a couple of weeks. My GI hasn't mentioned a mainanence dose. It is a nasty side effect. I'd really like to be off this drug.

Hi..are you not able to take 5ASA enemas such a Rowasa or Salofalk if you're not in the US?

When did you start to taper every second night?

I was taking Salofalk for a few months before the Entocort, but it didn't help this time. Salofalk has done the trick in the past.

I tried to taper to every second night about 6 weeks ago. I think i gave it a couple of weeks. Chaging meds or dosage usually take longer to show up for me, so it could have been a few bad days that weren't related to the tapering.

I am going to keep a better record of the tapering this time because I really can't remember much about the last time. I wonder if I should take salofalk on the nights that I don't take entocort.

I took Entocort orally and it helped when I was in a more severe state.  The enemas sound like a good idea.  I know much of my symptoms returned when i got off of entocort.  I think I had some significant side effects as well, because I felt pretty depressed and my mood was all over the place (it was like getting two hours of sleep as asked to function normally, but not necessarily tired).  I am pretty sure that losing nutrients and flaring didn't help either.
