Does anyone with bowel issues (keeping it general!) suffer from a weak stomach. By that I mean do some smells or some things really gross you out and cause a bad taste in your mouth and even cause you to gag. Nothing to do with a sick stomach now at all - just a weak stomach caused by certain "disgusts".

Thanks,

D

Absolutely! I have a horrible gag reflex to smells. It's gotten better over the years but I have always thrown up at the drop of a hat. Laughing too hard, weird smells, weird textures in my mouth, ect.

It's even worse when I'm nauseated - like today. Even the thoughts of certain foods today would cause me to gag. Oh, and the weird textures really make my guts go batty. But then again, I could just be weird - for YEARS I couldn't use cotton balls because the texture freaked me out!!!

Oh my God yes!  It seems worse now.  I use to have a really strong stomach but not anymore.  If I open the refrigerator and there is a strong food smell I have to close it or I will gag and gag.  Weird.  I wonder what this is from?

I used to have an "iron stomach" but lately I get nauseas easy but I honestly can't say that certain foods or smells make me want to gag. Some smells turn me off yes, but not enough to make me sick. I guess for me, some smells are just a turn off. However, there are some foods that make me nauseas when I EAT them.

Thanks for all your replies. It isn't about smells etc making me sick or even nauseas. It's just that I find certain things disgust me more than they used to. I could be halfway through a large meal, notice something that disgusts me and still be able to finish my meal no problems. I actually think it is more pshchological than anything else. Maybe it is mind induced from knowing more about the bowel and the stomach and been more receptive to the "mood" of both.

damo...I would agree. The good thing is that you are finishing your meal and not making a big deal about it. Some foods definitely appeal to me at times...other times not.

I do get nauseated and have headaches, and when it's one of those "sick" kind of ones, some smells will have me worse quickly.

Ever notice how many food commercials there are on TV when you feel nauseated??? YIKES!

Meds can help such as Zantac or antispasmodics.
