My goal is to exercise at least 20 minutes every day that I can.  (days when I am not in the bathroom a zillion times).  I started yesterday.  I am going to do it right now again.  I use a DVD by Prevention, Get Moving, a low-impact workout. It has several different routines including cardio, toning and yoga and more if anyone's looking for a good low-impact exercise video.  Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here wanted to join me in doing some type of exercise 20 minutes a day, and we could check up on each other on here...

I will! I have been thinking of starting a low impact cardio soon anyway. But I'm going to have to wait until after I get my SI joint steroid injections so I can move without pain. I'm having that done on Friday so by Monday I should be good to go!

I would like to do this, too. I need to find a good work-out video or join a gym or something. I will look into that Prevention video. Sounds good. I take yoga twice a week, but it really doesn't give me much in the way of cardio.

I would like to do this. I am so upset with my body right now. I used to work out nearly every day and i was thin and in great shape. I did power yoga and went to the gym and ran, hiked, etc. But i haven't gone hiking in 2 years because of UC and since i've been worse for about a year now my gym attendance has severely suffered. As a result i have gained a little weight ... and i hate it. I can't run anymore ... because as soon as i do i have to go to the bathroom. Does anyone else have this problem? I hate it.

I definitely want to do the 20-min a day thing though ... as a minimum. i NEED to get bak to my old life ... i want to be active and in shape again.

I exercise for about 45 minutes 4 days a week. I use a video I think its called the beach body, needless to say I dont have the beach body yet. but it does make me feel better. I only use the first 2 steps because the rest is way to fast for me. I think I will check into the one you use.

I've been doing an hour and a half, minimum 4 days a week of cardio mixed with weights for the last 6 yrs's always good to start low impact and move into to a higher gear and to modify it when you're having flares (although I work out regardless of what my flare is doing), there are so many forms of yoga out there so that would be a good place to start, or aquasize which is alot better than running, running often causes runners diarhea and it's pretty hard on the joints.

Good for you guys!!!!!!!!

You'll be amazed at how much better all around you will start to feel and it even benefits bowel function...just drink plenty of water (I avoid gatoraid and anything with sugar in it) to keep yourself properly hydrated since as you know that having IBD makes you more susceptible to dehydration and you don't want that.

I love to workout. I mostly do cardio. I hit the gym the 3 days/week my little one is at preschool. We have a treadmill so I do 1-2 additional days on that. Oh and if the weather is even remotely nice I push him in the stroller in the afternoons.

Thanks, guys. This really helps get me motivated to get back into my workout pattern. A good yoga video, my favorite, is by Shiva Rhea - called Yoga Shakti. You can program your own yoga sequence easily to fit what you want to do and how you are feeling.

I'm going to go to the gym. Yeah, can't run very well, but i will walk on the treadmill, use the EFX and lift some weights/do squats. I need to get in control of my life and i'm sure this will help. UC can't keep me home forever! :)
