I have been feeling bad for several weeks. I've been feeling bloated, horrible indigestion, terrible gas, it looked like I was 6 months pregnant! Finally, my doctor sent me to the ER to have an x-ray and blood work. The x-ray showed that my colon was completely packed with fecal matter and it was backing up throughout my entire digestive tract - the blood work showed by white blood cell count up to 14,000 and my SED rate up to 65. They did a CAT scan to confirm this. They were amazed that I didn't know I was constipated...like I was some kind of idiot! Well... as I told them, I didn't realize that you could have daily BM's and still be constipated. Granted, the bms may not have been huge, but I was having a daily movement (every morning regular as clockwork), formed but loose.
I ended up being in the ER most of the day and night. They gave me rectal enemas and oral meds to "get things moving". Granted I did pass a lot of watery material - but I still don't believe that my colon is clear. I've been taking Miralax 2-3 per day now for 3 days and continue to have nothing but watery stools - no formed bm. I'm starting to feel just as bad as I did last week - all the bloating and that "full" feeling. I've called the doctor and waiting to hear back on what the next step will be. They've tried every type of enema and I even took the Nulightly before going to the ER in an effort to get cleaned out. What else can they do???
Am I the only UCer that has this trouble with constipation? I just can't imagine what the next step will be. What in the world could cause my colon to be so packed and why won't it empty?
Anyone have any experience with something like this??? Any thoughts will be appreciated.
