Has anyone noticed a direct correlation between hormone fluctuations and flares?  Seems everytime my hormones change (ovulating or menstrating) my UC acts up?  My GI thinks I am crazy, but 3 days before I start ovulating and 3 days before I "start" I always have problems, anyone else??

We have lots of members that "mini flares" when they have their periods or are about to start. I don't get my period but I always have minor symptoms around the time I'm supposed to.

That would be an affirmitive for me! My Uc mini flares were getting to the point that every month, I was bleeding almost as bad from my flares as I was from my period. Not to mention the other increase of symptoms such as D and pain. I was on a viscious cycle of every month having to use steroid enemas to curb the bleeding. Not to mention the pain from my periods were so intense, it literally wiped me out for 2-3 days. I don't have periods anymore now either since I had an endometrial ablation done last October. But I do still a mild upset now every month as opposed to major. Many Uc women have an increase of symptoms around their TOM.

I absolutely think there's some kind of link between flares and hormones. My two major flares both came on as soon as I got pregnant.

If your GI laughs at a connection between hormone fluctuations and flares, perhaps you should find another GI. The link is well known and has been discussed often on this forum. Even people who don't have IBD can have problems around their periods. Here's an article you might find helpful:

Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999.

Therapeutic dose sulfasalazine.
Probiotics, l-glutamine and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice and Mucosaheal. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal.

My period is driving me crazy!! I use to be on the pill so i knew when it was coming and how long it was going to last, then at the same time i was diagnosed with UC they found 2 blood clots and linked it to long term use of the pill. And now i hardly ever get my period, which is really annoying and worrysome sometimes. And when I do get my period i get horrible cramps for up to a week before i really start. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just becuase of the meds? I talked to my doc about it and he said "it very well could be" what type of answer is that! And they will not put me back on the pill or even a diffrent progestrogen only pill due to the risk of blood cloting. And i do not want to be put back on blood thinners, my levels were never stable and I was getting my finger pricked at least once a week sometimes 3! Any advice?

I started with my first symptoms 2 months after I started the pill.  Didn't think anything of it and stayed on it for 7 years.  I don't know if that is what caused my UC, but have always wondered.  I now use a progesterone cream during the month.  I don't really think it helps all that much, but it does take the edge off my PMS symptoms.  I have horrible periods.  Bad cramps, lots of bloody clots and it is very painful.  I did not get such bad periods until after I had my second child.  I also get very nauseus for a couple of weeks a month.  It feels like morning sickness (happens the same time everyday), but it never maked me throw up, but I feel like I want to.  I hate being a woman!!

Your GI thinks your crazy???? Gawd, even my GP knows there is a direct link with hormone fluctuation and IBD, IBS too.

Infact, my GP pointed out that even some women who do not have any GI issues will have changes in their BM behviour and such during that time of month.
