Anyone else have the stomach flu?  Day 3 for me.  Diareah is main problem. Ugh!  I am the secretary at an elementary school and we have strep, flu, stomach flu, and a respitory bug going around.  Its awful.

Day 3?! Yuck! The stomach bug is the worst. Are you taking lots of probiotics?

My toddler has a nasty virus. It has been circulating around his preschool.

I had this the first week of this month... I went to work on Monday the 4th at 8am feeling kind of out of it but not sick yet. By noon I had gone to the bathroom (D) about 7 times and had vomited twice and felt like I was dying. So I went home and spent the next two days laying in bed with 102 fever, feeling intensly dizzy, exhausted and nauseous any time I tried to sit up or walk, and I wasn't able to eat solid food for about a week afterwards without feeling sick.
And now, every since then I've had blood in my stool. :(

Yes you can get probiotics in yogurt or take it in pill form.

I took frequent doses of Natren's Bifido Factor - about twice what I'd normally take - and got over my stomach bug quickly. It makes a huge difference.

My husband and I both had the stomach flu at the same time.... He had it worse than me and was in the bathroom all day with D and V.... I had nausea for a couple of days and slight D, but never V.. I take culturelle every day and am wondering if that is what helped me from being as sick as my hubby was... .if so.... GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!

You might need some enema support to help overcome that. Can you tolerate Rowasa? Try to think positively, rest as much as possible, & keep yourself hydrated. Chicken noodle soup, too, might help your whole body to feel better. There is definitely a bug going around because my dept. head (very workaholic!) has stayed out sick all week. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I've had the vomitting/diarrhea twice in my lifetime and hope to never have it again..horrific!!! I don't remember if I was flaring at the time, but I did up the rectal meds anyway.

The suggestion of probiotics should be a huge consideration...not in yogurt form but in pill form....especially since many with inflamed guts can be very lactose intolerant. For me, yogurt gives me much discomfort compared to milk..so it's not something I eat often.

Hope you feel better soon Lori...you've been through a lot.

Do call the doc and consider rectal meds as OH suggested.

Keep us posted.

Sorry to read that you've been throwing up again. You really have had more than your share this winter. The Pedialyte that Beth75 suggested might help calm the stomach. Start small with whatever you ingest, a few sips of water or other fluid, or a couple bites of toast, & then rest for 10-15 minutes. If that stays down, try to smallow a little more. Repeat this process a few times if you feel more settled. Then rest for a couple hours; nap if you can. That has helped me to overcome strong nausea. Have you tried the BRAT diet to reintroduce food when sick? (Banana, rice, applesauce, toast) A scrambled egg can usually go down easily. Hope the weekend will get you back on the mend. / Old Hat
