So yesterday I had my Remi infusion and I actually was looking forward to it! Not that I've been having any symptoms, it's just it makes me feel so good the next day....I have so much more energy. Even my mood changes! I'm wondering if it's just all in my head or if I'm "really" feeling that way. My boyfriend had a good laugh when I said I was looking forward to it because it makes me feel so good. Anyone else experience this?
Carol

I look forward to them too, but I think it's cuz I love the pampering from the nurses. Everyone is soooo nice at the infusion clinic. I make a morning of it. I stop at Einstein Bagels on the way and pick up a bagel sandwich and coffee so I can have a decent breakfast while I am in the chair, I bring a good book and/or my Zune and watch videos or listen to podcasts on it. Oftentimes I fall asleep as I usually take an early appointment. Sometimes there's a chatty bunch of fellow patients, most times everyone is in their own little world. And of course I know my remission will continue for another six weeks until the next infusion.

I kind of look forward to mine too. I get to chat with the nurse, read, play with my computer, sleep whatever...it's forced downtime and I think that's good.
As for feeling more energy the next day....I'm not really sure, but I do notice a slight down turn a few days beforehand, so it's definitely nice to end that!

I definitely look forward to mine. I get to just relax, do whatever restful activity I want, I get juice or water, even snacks if I need them. And I know it's going to keep me feeling good. The nurses are great, we talk about my job and their children (I know them all by name, including Sam, the little boy one of them adopted from Russia), we compare ideas about what to do for the DD. I love it!

Hey! Maybe we should start recommending Remi just for the feel good time in the infusion center!  tongue

Do they premedicatte you with steroids?
Just wondering if that is part of the energy? I think that infusion are a form of forced rest though!
It MAKES you have to slow down and rest for a time. Enjoy?!?!?

No steroids, just tylenol and zyrtec to help prevent reactions. I take zyrtec all the time, and it doesn't make make me sleepy.

All of you experience the same thing I do; my infusion center has become like a group of friends to me! I know all the nurses and most of the patients, so it's really nice to go there....and yes, I'm treated so well. It is nice down time, and I know I'm going to feel well. Most of my friends say when I'm leaving for my infusion...."Have a nice nap!" :-) I just can't get over how good I feel the next day; it's almost like a battery running down, and then I get some juice. Ha! And Sherry....I'll be over to help clean in about 8 weeks. Hee hee.

It all makes sense to me...I have never done them, but from seeing how they work for you, it's something I'm not afraid of if needed in the future.

Sad as it might sound to a healthy person who has never known UC, I really do look forward to my monthly Abatacept infusion as well.

Not only does it mean that in a fortnight I will be feeling another step better, I also look forward to seeing my partner in crime from this study, our specialist, the trial co-ordinators and the nurses. They are all such a fun bunch.

Its also great hanging out with people who can understand the stresses, fears and pressure that UC causes in my life. There's no one else I know who I can laugh about sloppy farts with, or understands the frustration of having to get up 3 times a night to rush to the toilet... Normal people just don't understand.
