Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had tried using the south beach diet.
I have gained alot of weight over the past year dealing with my colitis and my horrible reaction to remicade which left me in bed most of the time.
I had tried it once before with alot of weight loss success, but eventually flared and i wondered if it was because of too many fiberous foods??
Anyone else had either positive or negative experiences with t his diet and your colitis?

Hi! I have crohns and not UC. I had been adament that the new "diets" were horrable because carbs are good blah blah blah. Then my husband (who is my cook) went on South Beach and I ate all South Beach foods. I LOVED it. I ate foods I thought I couldn't eat. I still had all my vegetables cooked well but I was eating them! I felt great. I had energy, I had less gas, I wasn't bloated anymore and looked so much skinnier. I didn't need to lose weight but lost a few pounds. That was on phase one. It was a lifestyle change as far as switching to healthier carbs and recognizing how much sugar and glucose was in my diet. I loved that following the plan I felt more full after eating and had more constant blood sugar. I would say read the book, adapt it to accomodate what you know you can't eat, and try it modified for UC. You might end up loving it.
