Here are my symptoms...mild headache, constipation and fatigue. I called my GIs nurse b/c I was worried I was starting to flare or had some inflammation. I also told her that I had recently started generic colazal which seems to correspond w/ when my symptoms started. I have always had varying degrees of constipation as part of my IBS. This is different (can't think of another way to explain it). Anyway, she said the only way we will know for sure is if I go back on name brand Colazal. We are waiting to see if insurance will cover it. Will let you know! PS Sorry if this makes no sense...my toddler is trying to put stickers all over me as I type:)

I had slight side effects too when I switched to generic but I think my body has become accustomed to it. Well except the fatigue which right now is phenomonal! I feel like I'm walking thru mud all day. My headaches went away though for which I'm grateful. I hope by switching back to brand name, things will improve for you.

Ps. - I hope the stickers are at least something interesting! :)

Lightening McQueen and Thomas the Train. Jealous?!

I worried this is all in my head or that I haven't given the generic long enough to work.

I think it was Keylime who wrote in another thread that she phased in her child's generic Colazal while she still had a supply of the original capsules. That seemed to work in her case to ward off adjustment problems. May be a good strategy for all who switch ... / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Insurance okayed the switch back to label Colazal. The drugstore said they can't fill it until the 28th. Will keep you guys posted!

So far I haven't had any problems, but since the generic I got looks identical to the label Colazal (down to the number printed on the capsule,) I think I got the same thing I've been taking, just without the brand name on it.

I just saw my GI and he thinks that my mushy stools are the cause of the generic colazal. He said they are like 20% different than the nam brand and are made in another country without FDA regulation. He just wrote me a script for the name brand stuff and gave me a coupon that would cover the difference that my insurance would not.

Yes, this is what I did and so far so good. But I do get worried when I hear others have problems. Her generics are by Mylan and are a darker orange than the name brand. I guess if I notice any changes, I'll request strictly generic, too. She's been a bit gassy but I just started her on probiotics (Culturelle) and think that may be it, but otherwise she's doing well. Even grew an inch and went up a shoe size!!! She is so happy as she is the second shortest in her class!
