I have often asked the GI and GP about when best to take asacol , not that it seems to do me much good but i never miss a dose just in case it is helping
But do you guys have good experience from taking it at certain times , ie an hour before food , during food ... with certain foods  .. not before heavy meal , with lots of fluid
anything and everything you have tried would be great to hear about please

Personally I don't have any problems taking asacol. I have to take 4 pills 2 times a day so I take them in the morning as soon as I get up (I don't eat breakfast) and then right before I go to bed. I know my prescription says to take it with food like bread or crackers.
Hope this helps.

It's best to take them with food to avoid any stomach damage. Trust me - I speak from experience! After years of taking my Asacol/Colazal on an empty stomach, I believe it caused me to get acid reflux/gastritis. But definately take it with some sort of food. If you don't feel up to a large meal then even a piece of bread or some crackers should help.

My prescription says to take with food IF it causes you stomach upset. I don't know anything about the gastritis/acid reflux connection, but it scares me so I try to usually take them with some food. I don't always do this though.
