So I've been on Humira for 5 weeks now and since I've tapered down to 10mg of Prednisone on Monday, I am not feeling so hot- feelings of urgency, achy abdomen, sore back, return of the mucus, over five BMs a day, not COOL! I feel like the blood is right around the corner.

Does anyone know how long I should be on Humira before I get results?
I have been on Pred since July- never able to successfully taper without the return of the flare. I take Asacol as well- not convinced it does anything actually. The only thing that works is the Prednisone- evil, evil Prednisone. I have gained 35 lbs, my back is hairy and I was yelling at everyone.

I'm starting to worry that nothing will work :(

Hey! I hate you are are not feeling great. We don't have many members in the UC forum on Humira. You may want to post this in Chrons to see if you get more responses. Keep us posted.

Hi!

My husband has been on Humira for about four weeks for UC. He has also come down to an average of 5-6BM/day. He still has bloody stools and an increase in gas. He is taking colazal with that, but like you he has his doubts about colazal.I would say his BMs/day came down after he took his second dose (two shots), so within in the 3rd week there was slight improvement.

I had asked his doctor the same question when he started Humira. They said that improvement shows up in different people at different times. Some may go into remission right away, while it may take longer for others. So, it seems pretty individualized.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
