Hi, just wondering which is for the bleeding? My BM's are completely formed and normal, I just have this darn bleeding. Thanks.

Well supposedly they are both used for bleeding (and other symptoms). Both of these meds are to help reduce the inflammation in the colon. For me personally, Asacol or Colazal never controlled my bleeding properly which is why I had to resort to the enemas. What color is the blood?

Light to med pink - some red but no mucous or tissue. And usually only after my morning BM and sometimes if I have one later, there's nothing. It's like it's built up during the night or something - its really weird.

Light red blood is usually bleeding closer to the rectum. Do you have hemmeroids? If not, have you tried the enemas yet? Steroid or Rowasa? What about Cortifoam or Canasa suppositories?

Thank you - that's what I think too. Waiting for an appt. with a second doc as mine was reluctant but finally gave me Canasas which I use at night only (1000 mg) and I feel uncomfortable when I'm sitting at the computer for long times which is what I have to do for work. Also feel something at my rectum - no itching but uncomfortable. I want to try adding the foam as I can't keep enemas in at all. I also want to try a different med - I know when I tell my current doc that there's bleeding he will just want to up the Pred and not consider rectal. It sure seems that way to me.

Diagnosed with LS UC 1984, suffered for 16 years, high doses Pred and eased off to Azulfidine; remission for 9 years, just flared recently.Heading into remission again with addition of: prayer, deep breathing, walks on the beach and: 3 Asacol 3 x day with 3 Vitamin Shoppe Ultimate 10 Probiotic; 20 mg. Prednisone; 4-1000 mg.garlic twice daily; 2 zyflamend twice daily, SuperFoods RX multi-whole food vita twice daily, SuperFoods RX Omega 3;; Metamucil morning and night - no dairy, hardly any coffee (Just added Hevla decaf), lots of water with lemon and green tea. Recently added: (1 scoop Greensplus Chia seeds and the vinegar and honey regimen)stopped today 3/3. Added Culturelle, Ruteri and L-Glutamine

Prednisone works for me every time...just a shame it's poison. Asacol never worked for me.
