It seems that many folks take prednisone; does any one have experience with medrol? after about 15 years of being cortisone free I am back on the evil drugs. about three months ago I took a medrol pack and that calmed my uc down more or less for 6 or 8 weeks but it come back again, i did another pack and it helped for a few weeks but now I am on a much higher dose of the medrol and it doesn't seem to be helping much. My doc said well maybe prednisone might be better but the side effects for me are so evil -- moon face, acne, mad munchies and in the past muscle tone loss. My doc is also talking about remicade which seems like a scary option.

Any experiences with medrol vs prednisone would be appreciated. I should also add that I have diabetes which does not do well with the stress of the UC or the cortisone.

If you look it up, there supposedly is no difference. I've never taken Medrol for the UC, but did take it for reactive asthma. It didn't help, so my doctor put me on Pred which did help. It was more than six years ago, so I don't remember the dosages, but suspect the Pred worked because it was a higher dose.

Medrol and Pred have identical effects and side effects.

In remission since April, 2006. Remicade has been my wonder drug.

Neither???? You couldn't pay me to take another oral or IV steroid. What about other meds? and what meds are you currently on? You might want to add a signature to your account.

I was on Medrol in Nov and from what I have read, it is easier for the body to metabolize. That means less side effects. It worked great for me, and I really don't have any luck with meds!!

Currently on (per day):

Imuran 100 mgs
