So I have been flaring on and off for about a year.....I have been on Sulfasulazine for a long time.....and it seem to be just keeping it from getting any worse.....not putting me back in remission......

So I called my doctor and had him put me on Asacol because I took that about 4 years ago when I still had insurance and it helped a lot.....I was on Asacol and Rowasa and it put me back in remission....I was symptom free for about 3 years straight! :-)

I have no insurance right now so Asacol is very expensive.....I sucked it up and bought a month supply.....my flare got WORSE.....I was up every night using the restroom multiple times.....I was late for work because mornings were bad......So after the month was over I decided I was going back on Sulfasulazine and it has went back to what it was before Asacol.....

I called my doctor and asked for Rowasa enemas.....they are pricey but not as bad as Asacol.....I am hoping that these will help me a lot!!!

Is it okay to take Rowasa enemas with Sulfasulazine? I have only taken them with Asacol.....  Also I am thinking about doing them every other night instead of every night to save a little money......would this be okay or should I do them every night until I am better?

I am just desperate to get better! sad   I am a school teacher and it is so hard to be having to use the bathroom when I have a room full of kids that I can't leave alone.....

Thank you for your help in advance!

It's okay to take Rowasa w/sulfasulazine. Can you get the generic Rowasa to save some money?

No, Rowasa is the brand. Generic "Rowasa" are just called Mesalamine enemas. I don't know what the price is without insurance, but with my insurance a 2-week supply is $10.

Sara has answered your questions, I just wanted to stop in and say HI! :) It's been a while since we've seen you on here Beth and I was hoping that you were doing good. Other then your flare, how have you been?
