It's suppose to be a huge help for IBD and IBS, I bought some yesterday, but was curious if anyone here uses/used it and what your results (if any) were.

Hey--I had a bad reaction to the oregano oil, massive heart beats and hives, but i think i must just have an allergy. I'd just suggest starting with a very little amount, and then move up to the recommended dosage. Hope it helps, Lb

Oil of Oregano is a potent anti-fungul and like caprilic acid it can be be useful if your UC is fungus related

I think even if your UC isn't fungus related it could still be very beneficial for symptoms, for some at least, as we all know what works for some doesn't work for all but oil of oregano apparently has some excellent health benefits.

Oil of oregano is a very potent anti-fungal, anti-viral. In my experience it was really important to treat it as I would an antibiotic and take probiotics simultaniously. I used to drop the oily liquid from a dropper directly into my mouth and flood with water. When I diluted it by dropping it in water it always left an oily ring in the glass...it felt as though I left it all behind. Beware, it's hot.

yes, it's definitely peppery...I just drop 3 drops directly under my tounge, it can be mixed with food/beverages as well.

Well, it just so happens I started it when my periods started and when I have my periods things usually get worse with CD symptoms, but I had one pretty good day so that should count for something I think, I'd say I should know better once my hormones go back to where they were after my periods are done which should be tomorrow...

I will keep you posted :)

Seems to be helping me. I think the excercise is the other big thing and getting outdoors to do stuff that has helped as well. I just got the drops, which might be better than the capsules because the throat gets a coating as well.

I'm also taking wild oregano oil according to Jini Patel Thompson's WOO protocol. It is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Working on the theory that IBD has it's roots in some type of flora imbalance and/or undetected infection, WOO pretty much covers all the bases.

With a condition as serious as IBD, you have to work up to a pretty stout dose and plan to be on it for quite some time. Sometimes multiple rounds are required, too. And simultaneous probiotic supplementation is critical. Anyone interested can learn more here:

Again I stress not to underestimate the potency of this product. I was following a "stout dose" protocol for several months and was subsequently diagnosed with C-diff. One cannot prove these things but I suspect it was the oil of oregano.

My sister uses 10 drops a day for her IBS and finds major improvements from it...I'm doing okay so far, havn't noticed any huge changes but I imagine it may take time and of course I'm giving it a fair chance as I do with any products I try...so far, from all the things I've tried for my IBD/IBS using colostrum (which is suppose to be highly recommended for IBD) was the only thing I didn't notice benefit from...oh, and the chlorophyll, I didn't notice anything after 2 bottles (big bottles) except for green poops.

Everyone is different, and what works for some doesn't work for all.

I've taken oil of oregano as an antifungal, and like everyone is saying it is EXTREMELY potent stuff! Make sure you build up a tolerance very slowly. If I take too much right off the bat I'll get hives and really bad anxiety. It works well to restore intestinal balance, though, so it's definitely worthwhile.

It is powerful. It will kill off both bad and good gut flora, same as a broad-spectrum antibiotic. That's why I said probiotic supplementation - to replace the good gut flora - was critical. WOO and broad spectrum antibiotics do not cause c-diff infections in and of themselves. It's the failure to rebuild the healthy gut ecology that allows unsavory organisms to to move into the undefended gut and cause problems.

Anyone who's interested in learning more, I'd highly recommend reading Jini's book, Listen to Your Gut, where the protocol is fully explained.
