I just spent 12 days in the hospital and was diagnosed with severe pan UC. Some of you actually encouraged me to get the help I really needed. This is all totally new to me. I was treated with morphine for a few days and IV steroids for almost 10 days with no response. Surgeons visited me daily. I had my first Remicade treatment almost 5 days ago and have had no bowel movements at all for two days. I'm also now on prednisone 40 mg. I tried asacol prior to admission (only 7 doses or so), but it didn't work or I was just flaring too badly to really tell. My question is: Is it "normal" not to have any bowel movements after Remicade for a few days?? Next remicade treatment is scheduled for March 18. Thank you.

I think that's possible. I'm seem to remember something similar to that when I started. I don't know if it was 2 days, but it did feel really weird. I just was used to feeling like I had to go ALL the time, and then I didn't feel like i had to go at all.
I guess I would just be sure you're eating properly so that you will be able to go when the time comes :)

When I used to take Remicade, I would get pretty constipated, especially the first week after treatment or so. I used to eat whatever I wanted at the time and not get sick, resulting in a big weight gain! :( But if I would go too many days without going, I would take a suppository or enema. You could also try taking Miralax or Benefiber.
