I know I havn't been on the forums in ages but I know i can depend on you guys (and girls) when I'm in the dumps.

My Doc just recently switched me to Lialda and even though I asked him twice, i'm not sure if my dosage is right. I used to take two 500mg Pentasa twice daily and now I'm on one 1.2g pill of Lialda. When i do the math it seems as if I should be taking 2 of the Lialda in the morning. At first I didn't take notice but its been about a week and i'm feeling those pains below the ribs again. I know i should ask my Doc but he is so ready to put me on steroids again and I don't want to go there if its just a medication adjustment.

Also not sure but i may need to go back to the Pentasa because the Liada only starts to work in the colon and for some reason (may be Chrones) the pains are not all in my colon.

Thanks

Hi dmacell- For Lialda, you can go up to four 1.2 mg/day--the dose I'm on. I started at 2 and increased up to 4. Perhaps your doc would increase the Lialda before going on the pred? I would ask and see, it sure would be better than pred!

I think I might be the best person to answer your question. Just as you are on one tablet, I hit a flare and did not know what to do. I felt like I was light on medicine. My doctor bumped me up to two in the morning. I also used Rowasa for spot treatment. Pretty much whenever I think Im relapsing, like now, or just had a lot of foods that could cause trouble. Rowasa is a god send when oral pills arent quite doing. Just talk to your doctor bump up to two and get a good rectal med like Rowasa and you should be prepared for anything that comes your way.

Thanks,

I took an extra one last night and started taking two this morning and the pains are almost all gone already. I'm sure after I talk to my Doc today he will agree and bump up my perscription since I'm still using the samples. Up to this point I had mastered my remission but my med change threw me off and I wasn't sure how the Lialda would work.
