I am just wondering if anyone has had experience with the flavor packs for Half Lytely and which one is the best to use.  I have lemon-lime, cherry and orange.  I simply can't wait to take drinks of the savory prep that awaits me in my fridge!!

So, which pack do you recommend that I add to my already tasty treat?  tongue

Don't use any flavour packs....drink it "naked" with a straw.

My opinion based on drinking the gallon preps for 6 c-scopes. I did one with Fleet...and 6 with the gallon..won't do Fleet EVER AGAIN!

I used cherry once and orange once, both were equally not-delicious, but not terrible. I wouldn't use a straw though, since straws draw more air into your system and increase gassy-ness. The best thing, i think, is to rent some mindless DVDs and distract yourself as much as possible. Also, it is very important to buy the softest toilet paper that you can find. I actually alternated baby wipes and toilet paper last time and that really helped. Good luck! Lb

What is fleet? I might have to do that next week for a procto (aka sigmoidoscopy is what I'm seeing on google that it is called). Or, I'm taking enemas. I can't remember what the GI nurse said today--I want to have a good test and am a little worried since it will late afternoon time.

Straws only take in more air if you're sucking in air after you've sucked up all the liquid. Gulping takes in more air than straws.

Regarding Fleet...it comes in enema form (which would only clean out the lower part of the colon) and oral purgative.

The oral Fleet isn't even a good clean out product from my perspective...the process as well of eating lightly for a few days before and then liquids the ALL DAY of the purge which also takes a whole day is a total waste of time.

As you can see, I have noting good to say about it...I'd rather be able to eat the day of the purge, start it at 4 or 5 in the afternoon and have it all over by 10:00. At least if one is working it doesn't interfere.

I have been taking pills for prep for a number of years now. I will never go back to the liquid preps if I can help it. If you have no problems taking pills, this is the way to go. I once had to cancel a colonoscopy because I simply couldn't get the prep down - starting retching and vomiting.

My GI wouldn't give me the pills. She said that type of prep is not for people with UC. It aggravates the colon too much.............I wish I could do the pills, seems alot easier.

I don't understand why your doctor won't give you the pills. I have had uc for years and have taken them without problems. I did read some place that people with kidney problems cannot take them. I think ANY prep is irritating for the colon. (I'm glad I have eleven months before the next colonoscopy.)

those who have taken the pills - are you in the US?  I am due for my next colonoscopy and want to ask for something different because I have thrown up both the fleet and the half-lyte gallon in the past.  I would much prefer pills.

I just drank a bunch of the Lemon and Lime packet...it tasted like salt water and lime gatorade. I am going in just a few hours for the colonoscopy and I can't seem to sleep since the liquid is still working. I am so doing the pills next time, the liquid is gross. Stay away from the lemon and lime.
