  Hello

How long have you been on it and is it doing anything for you. I have been taking it now for almost 3 months and well so so.  I have bleeding here and there but i dont know if its coming from my colon or a internal hemmroid. Blood seems to be at the top of what in the potty. (sorry too much info). Its also not all the time it happens mostly then i have that huge urge to push.  Also today i have serrious BURNING in my gut area.  It comes and goes, sometimes i want to just bend over in a little ball. I am very stressed today so dont know if thats whats making that pain.

ALSO DIET COKE is my drug of choice. lol And i have given it up as of like 3 weeks ago because i always noticed that when i would drink that i would have more of a BAD day. and blood.  I am definetly thinking its from anything having that ASPERARTE (dont think i spelled it quite right). Also i have been really trying to stay away from anything that says it has anything PARTIALLY HYDROGINATED in the label.

Thanks

(so glad i found this board)

NIKI

one lialda once a day

multi vitamin

Fish Oil

Bromellian

Folic Acid

(need more PEARLs they are just so expensive)

Niki,
HI! I started out on 2 Lialda/day and am now on 4/day plus Canasa suppositories. I noticed that the bleeding stopped, decrease to 2 bm's /day and no urgency within a few weeks and formed bms within a month. I increased, per doctor orders, when my symptoms re-surfaced through flares.

Where is your colitis located? Have you talked with your doctor about all of your continued bleeding, cramping and pain? It may be that he would have some further suggestions for you to get into remission. Let us know!

First of all- you must stop the Diet Coke. The caffine, artifical sweetner & carbonation are REALLY not good for the colitis.

I have been on Lialda since November, and after I recovered from an intestinal infection I noticed my urgency has let up a bit but I still have that pinching pain (left side colitis).

To me, its not a miracle drug but at least I'm not on steroids.

Also- if its red blood, its most likely an internal roid. Been there!

Also, check out this book my Naturalpathic MD recommended it to and I am learning a lot about what I put in my body.

As stated on here many a time, what one person can/can't eat doesn't mean it's the same for others. I am able to drink diet coke and also use numerous packs of splenda daily in my tea. It's the spicy, dairy kind of foods that upset my system. To each his own.

I've been on Lialda for about 6 weeks and it has definitely helped me. I've also been able to be 100% compliant, unlike when I was taking asacol 3 times a day. I'm also in the process of tapering cortenema (take it once every three days) and rowasa. I started another thread a few weeks ago about asking people how long they've been on Lialda, so check that one out as well. I'm curious to see if there are any long term side effects of Lialda. I'm not too thrilled that they've only tested it for 8 weeks. Regardless, it has been great for me. I just hope I can come off of the steroids.

Also, talk to your doctor about increasing the lialda. It can be taken up to 4 pills/day.

Regarding diet coke, I agree with AlabamaBabs. Through experimentation, you'll figure out which foods make you feel worse, so just learn from your experience with your body. "do what works" is the best way to approach it.

Of course, double check with your doctor before you make any changes to your current regimen.
