I've heard SO much about Probiotics, pro, con and nuetral.
My GI gave me Florastor samples at 1 point.
The million $ question. Do they work? Do they survive long enough to be effective in the intestines?

Now, I've read up on Prebiotics--are they real, psychological or hype?

What has your experience been with either?

Thanks.

I took Florastor for a few months. I liked it but it was expensive and my pharmacy had to special order it. I eventually switched to Acidohphilus Pearls. So far so good w/ the Pearls. I can't say for certain they are doing anything as I take several prescription meds.

Do a search or scroll through some old posts. We have talked about probiotics a lot lately.

Prebiotics help the probiotics.

I like what I use...there are many kinds and some would work better for some than others.

quincy

I was hesitant to start a probiotic. I had some irrational fear of ingesting bacteria! lol But I started a few in the beginning but stopped because I didn't like how they made my gut feel. But then I learned about Pro-Bio from someone here on the forum. So I ordered some and I can tell that they are working because my gut feels more settled. I honestly can't say if I notice a difference in my symptoms or not but that roiling gut-wrenching feeling is gone. That in itself is worth it in my eyes.

It's not a matter of whether or not they work, all or nothing. Some work, some don't. Depends on the type of strain and the tested potency. Some brands work well for some folks and don't for others. You might find this article helpful:
