I did something like this. Ended up getting amina acid injections that cost me $250 a shot. Made me feel great for about a week then they wore off. Not the cure they promised and after I was down $1000 plus I decided it wasn't worth it. Be careful with these guys. As bad as conventional doctors may seem, everyone is tryin to make their own money. Idk too much about this guy though and he may be great. NOT EVERYONE IS EVIL. just everyone without IBD!!!haha

Just my take

Dr. Hoffman doesn't promise any miracle cures. And he plainly states patients that aren't willing to make dietary and lifestyle changes needn't waste their money by coming to see him. He doesn't offer a magic pill or injection; he does aim to improve digestion and heal the digestive tract with a variety of therapies. If you read the IBD section on his site, you'll see pretty much what his treatment protocol is:

to the poster that visited Dr. hOffman, did he put you on a special diet and did you follow it?

i am on the scd and doing fantastic!!!!
Pharmacy Student, Class of 2009.  Diagnosed 8/99.  Suffered for almost 10 years.  I am currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and am nearing remission.  I feel fantastic!    I have lost so many years to this disease.  I decided to become a pharmacist to understand these drugs, and to help fellow sufferers of IBD.  My goal is to open up a pharmacy and take care of my patients(particularly explaining what the drugs do to you), compound special medications, and have a great practice. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE SCD DIET? IT HAS PUT ME IN REMISSION AND I PLAN ON GETTING OFF THE ASACOL SOON TOO!  (In remission since 2/15/08)
Meds 3200 mg Asacol, 2.5 mg Prednisone.  Doc wanted to put me on 6-mp or Remicade, but I refused to take the medications!  For me, diet works...

I haven't yet visited him, but I have hopes of doing so. There aren't any GIs in my area that are as knowledgeable and current on all the latest research and techniques as he is. I'm willing to travel across country to see him.

But yes, it's my understanding that he puts all of his IBD patients on the SCD or some modified version of it.
