hi all...i've recently undergone some major med revisions & am suddenly feeling very out of it today...dizzy, sort of incoherent, "wonky".  i'm trying to figure out which of my med changes could be doing this & would appreciate any help.

recent changes:

2/23/08: remicade infusion
3/14/08: decrease prednisone from 7.5mg to 5mg (slow taper, i had been on 7.5 for a month after coming down from 10 mg).  UC is still active, but MD thinks i am steroid-resistant.
3/14/08:  increase 6MP from 50mg to 75mg
3/14/08:  removed all dairy & eggs from diet

also, my UC seems more annoyed over the last 2 days than it has been over the last few weeks - i've noticed before that the remicade seems to really halt the UC for a week or two post-infusion, but then blood starts to creep back in.

i tend to be really sensitive to prednisone side effects, if that helps - i've only recently gone back to work, as i wasn't able to work on anything over 10mg.

if anyone could help me figure out which of these changes would be most likely to be causing my mental side effects, i'd really be grateful.  thank you!!

I'd be surprised if it were the 6MP or the diet change. The only diet thing I can think of is hypoglycemia from changing your sugar intake. Do you think that you have also changed your sugar intake as a result of no dairy/no eggs?

You could alternate your pred -- 7.5 one day and 5 the next -- if you wanted to test out the theory that it could be the pred.

How many infusions have you had before?

Actually when I increased my 6mp from 50mgs to 75mgs, I felt a little out of too. And even more out of it when I increased from 75mgs to 100mgs. Maybe not to the extent you are. Your dizziness is sort of disconcerting and I think you should call the doc just to be on the safe side.

julee - i've had 4 prior remicade infusions, and no reactions to any of the others. the sugar change is entirely possible, actually...i hadn't considered that - i've been making up for baked goods with fruit, etc, which probably has more sugar. maybe i'll try to cut back on my sugar intake & see if that helps... thank you for the suggestion!

Yes, once my body became accustomed to the higher dosages then that went away. It took about 2 weeks.
