I cant' get off this stuff, I'm on 3 a day and my doctor tells me to cycle down and as soon as I go down to 2 pills a day a flare starts right back up.
Has anyone else had issues with getting off this drug?

I'm currently coming down from 27mg. Last week I tapered to 21 mg. Today I lower to 15mg. So far no problems. I was on a low dose for a year and a half, so I'm curious if I'll be able to get off of it completely.
Diagnosed with UC in August 2005.
Suffered for my whole life before being diagnosed.
Told to "Eat more fibre."
Currently on:

Salofalk 1500mg x 4/day
6mg x 1/day
Entocort increased to:
9mg x 3/day as of 2.14.08

I had problems with tapering Entocort earlier this year.  Turns out it was not reaching down far enough into the colon, according to my GI (last 40cm of colon continued to be very inflamed, as the c-scope showed).  I had to use cortifoam to get at the inflammation at the end.  This worked (so far, anyway, keeping fingers crossed) although I had to taper slowly and not both at the same time. I alternated reductions in entocort and cortifoam.

pan colitis (diag: Nov 05)
Meds: salofalk7 to 10 tabs/day depending on disease status; imuran 75mg/day; entocort when flaring; cortifoam when flaring; pantoloc; VSL#3; vitamin D and calcium; fosomax

If you flare every time you try to taper Entocort, it means you've become steroid-dependent. I went through this for three years, until I started Remicade. And I had some of the really bad side effects you're not supposed to get from Entocort.
Moderate to severe left-sided UC (21 cm) diagnosed 2001.
Asacol, Rowasa, Pentasa, Prednisone, Entocort, Azathioprine
Colazal,  Remicade, Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri.
In remission since April, 2006. Remicade has been my wonder drug.
