I have back pain frequently, elephantlover. The pain about
halfway between the top of my crease and my side is from sacro-ileitis, one of the "extra gifts" that sometimes comes with UC. My physical therapist helped me with some exercises for this, which will relieve it some.
When I'm flaring, I'll get terrible pain right in the middle of my back, just above the crease. I refer to it as "that horse standing on my back," because that's what it feels like to me. That pain just doesn't go away until my flare eases up. I used to get the same back pain with really bad cramping with my periods. Now I get it when my proctosigmoid UC flares. I associate it with inflammation in the lower abdomen or pelvis.
