I have been in a major flare since Thanksgiving. I was just put on the Cortisone enemas in lieu of am and pm cortifoam and canasa. I am doing better in the am (less frequencey and no blood or mucous) but have gas and pain by late afternoon. Should I start taking the am treatments again?

I am 54, first onset at 49. Currently on:

Lialda-4.8 grams
Nightly Hydrocortisone enema-100mg/60ml

If you have other meds left over, I don't think it will hurt to use the cortifoam or canasa in the AM.

I have also found that afternoons are tough - that "in between" time for meds.

Try for a day or two and see how your body reacts.

Oh - you could also ask your doc for Anucort suppositories. They're the steroid ones. You could use one of them mid-morning to head off the PM gas.

Sometimes I feel like a guinea pigs with all of the things doctors like to try!
Sorry to hear you've been flaring so long - not fun.
