Hey Peter. There has been a lot of discussion about culturelle lately. You may want to scroll through the old posts to get additional info.

I give it to my toddler (who does not have UC) when he gets an upset stomach. It really helps him. I am thinking of switching myself. And the nice part is you can just pick it up at a drugstore.

I think it's more beneficial for me than VSL3 and it's cheaper and doesn't need refrigerating. Not sure about the dosage though, perhaps UC sufferers would double the normal recommended dose as it's normally taken just once a day.
DX with UC Jan 07
Currently taking Colazide (allergic to Asacol and Pentasa) 6 a day
Also taking VSL3 X1 a day

Works for me, I was impressed but stick to the dosage on the package...don't over do it.

Makes a huge difference for me. If I feel things are starting to go sideways (junk food and chocolate party) I take 4 a day. Otherwise I take 2.

The 3 seperate times I tried it, I saw bleeding within a couple days of starting it. Each time the bleeding went away after stopping it. This was after not bleeding for quite some time. Not sure if it was a coincidence or what. It does seem like most here have had a good experience with it. It's worth a try.

It's really made a big and positive difference for me. I am having the first success in getting off of Prednisone in the almost-two-years I have been on it. Around day three you may be REALLY gassy as you adjust to the new flora in your guts, but that goes away pretty quick. I've been taking it for more than three months now and like I said, it really made the difference for me.

I wonder if it's other added ingredient that might be in it causing that kind of reaction (particularly the bleeding), wonder if it has too many additives or even dyes in it or something along those lines...that's why I like the primadophilus, nothing but the actual good bacteria and a little potatoe starch for preservation.

Hi I have been taking culturelle for 3 days and on the night of the first day i experienced ALOT of gas and bloating. On the second day I had not only increased gas and bloating/pain and also had increased bowel movements and bleeding. I don't know if the bleeding is colitis or hemoroids. Does taking probiotics get better????
