My GI's group is participating in clinical testing of Tysabri. The GI nurses at the infusion center said it's being seen now as a last resort drug for Crohn's. It has been associated with leukodystrophy, a degenerative and fatal brain disease. They said they don't think it's being considered for UC because we do have the option of surgery, so the risk isn't felt to be justified for UC patients.
